Whose Fault Are Gas Prices?
With the national average at $4.37 a gallon, according to AAA, up from $3.13 a year ago, the Reporter asked residents who is to blame, and how they can tell.
“In 2022 it was obviously the government. Now it’s the market, which happens by itself, like weather. I can tell the difference by the feeling.”
Lyle Strandberg, 61 Farm equipment salesman “I keep a sticker for every administration in a drawer. I use whichever one has the right price on it, and I’ve never been wrong.”
Connie Pruitt, 49 School bus driver “I don’t have a position. I have a gas card. The gas card has a position, and it’s ‘ouch.’”
Nathan Brooks, 34 Rideshare driver “My husband says it’s whoever’s in office. I told him it’s been three people. He said yes.”
Doris Albright, 73 Retired nurse “I stopped reading the sign. It says $4-something. I would rather not know which something, because then it would be someone’s.”
