Opinion Letters
Letters to the Editor: Oct. 17
Readers respond to a footnote, a hedge, a sticker, an envelope, and the question of whose fault it is.
Letters should be under 250 words, refer to a piece by headline, and include the writer’s name and town. Footnotes may submit letters only through counsel.
Footnote 4 Is Not a Prop
Re: “HHS Restores Public Trust in Vaccine Panel by Firing All 17 Members; Public Trust Says It Was Not Consulted, Court Restores Previous Trust”
I represent Footnote 4, and I write to correct the impression, left by your special report, that my client is “declining to comment.” My client is not declining. My client has not been asked a question it could answer, and, by law, a footnote may respond only in the form of another footnote.
Please direct all further inquiries to the bottom of the page.

Re: “Kentucky Upsets No. 10 LSU 35-34 in Overtime, Second Straight Week, Final Score Printed on Season Tickets in April”
I read that a season-ticket holder was sent the final score in April, in a sealed envelope. I have held season tickets since 1991 and have never received one. I have called the ticket office twice. They asked if I was sure I wanted to know.Wanda Birch

Re: “HOA President Elected on Promise of ‘No More Feuds’ Enters Seventh Month of Hedge Feud, Supporters Say It Is Not a Feud and Will Be Over Soon, One Way or the Other”
Your story quotes me accurately, and I would like to confirm that the bylaws do say “in consultation with the board.” I read them aloud at Tuesday’s meeting, and I read them slowly, so that the president could hear.
He said he had been consulted in spirit. I wish to state that I am not a spirit and have never been consulted.

Re: “Man Who Kept ‘Thanks Biden’ Sticker on Pump Since 2022 Reports It Became Invisible at $4.37, Says Pump Is Now ‘Doing Its Best’”
I am writing about the parking at the county pie contest, which was nothing like what is described in your article. I would like it noted that I arrived at 9:40 and was directed to a space that was, by 10:15, a different space. My pie was fine.Lorna Pasko

Re: “Whose Fault Are Gas Prices?”
I read your panel on gas prices with interest. I have thought about it a good deal, and I have concluded that it is the weather. I do not know how, and I do not need to. It is the weather.Ernie Tolliver, 70
Tillman, Okla.My Sticker Has Returned
Re: “Man Who Kept ‘Thanks Biden’ Sticker on Pump Since 2022 Reports It Became Invisible at $4.37, Says Pump Is Now ‘Doing Its Best’”
I wish to report that my sticker, which your article said went invisible at $4.37, has reappeared. It is on pump 6. I did not put it there. I believe it is in a different mood.Dwayne Kuhlman
